Terms

Terms of Use

Version of October 24, 2026

This is a courtesy translation. In case of discrepancy, the French version prevails.

These terms govern the use of the Solidus application (browser and desktop), the parts library and related online services. Paid plans are also governed by the Terms of Sale.

1. Purpose and acceptance

Solidus is published by Guillaume Sion, sole proprietor (entrepreneur individuel, EI), SIRET 918 361 551 00032, 12 rue Paul Bert, 46100 Figeac, France (the "Publisher"); see the legal notice.

Using Solidus, or creating an account, constitutes acceptance of these terms. Creating an account requires accepting them expressly. If you refuse them, do not use the service.

2. Definitions

3. Access and plans

The detailed content and price of each plan are presented on the pricing page. The Publisher may change the features of each plan; a paid feature is not withdrawn during a subscription before the end of the paid period.

The required hardware, browser and Internet connection remain at the User's expense.

4. Account

The account is personal. You undertake to provide accurate information, keep it up to date and keep your password confidential. Any action taken from your account is deemed to have been taken by you; report any unauthorized use without delay to [email protected].

You declare at registration whether you are an Individual or a Business. The free Pro plan is reserved for the personal, non-commercial use of Individuals. Professional use of Pro or Team features (for an employer, customers, a paid activity or production that is sold) requires a Business plan. A false declaration may lead to suspension of the account and invoicing of the corresponding Business plan.

For a Business account, the holder of the organization manages its members and seats and guarantees that each member complies with these terms.

5. Software licenses

Open source core. The core of the Application (kernel, Part, Sheet metal and Assembly workbenches) is licensed under the GNU Affero General Public License version 3 (AGPL-3.0), with an exception that leaves plugins running in the Application's sandbox free to use the license of their choice. Its source code will be published as soon as the Kickstarter campaign reaches its milestone. Once published, your rights to this code are those of this license, which prevails over these terms for this code.

Modules and services. The modules reserved for the Pro and Team plans, the official signed builds, the Online Services and the content of the official library are the property of the Publisher. The Publisher grants you, for the duration of your plan, a personal, non-exclusive and non-transferable right of use, within the limits of your plan (personal use for an Individual, professional use for a Business) and of the number of seats subscribed. It is prohibited to circumvent license control, to decompile these modules outside the cases provided for by law, or to redistribute them.

Trademark. The above licenses grant no rights to the name "Solidus" or to the logos. Software derived from the source code must bear another name and may not connect to the Online Services without written agreement.

6. Seats and offline use

Features reserved for the Pro and Team plans are activated by a seat token, taken when the Application is opened and released when it is closed. An Individual account has one active seat at a time; a Business has as many simultaneous seats as seats subscribed, shared between its members. A seat can be "borrowed" to work offline for up to 7 days; it then remains unavailable to other devices.

7. Parts library

The library provides standard components (fasteners, bearings, profiles, cylinders…) as parametric families. You may incorporate downloaded components into your own designs, including commercial ones if your plan allows it; you may not extract all or part of the library to redistribute it or to build a competing database.

Components are provided to facilitate design. Their dimensions are carefully established from standards and manufacturers' data, but check them with the manufacturer or the standard before manufacturing or buying.

8. User contributions

Any account may publish projects, machines and fixtures in the community catalog, and rate or comment on components. By publishing, you warrant that you hold the necessary rights and that your content violates neither the law nor the rights of a third party (copyright, designs, patents, trade secrets, personal data).

You remain the owner of your contributions. They remain published if you delete your account (without your name); withdraw them beforehand if you do not want this. Contributions published by other users are not checked by the Publisher, who is only a host within the meaning of the law: the Publisher is not responsible for their content, but promptly removes or makes inaccessible any manifestly illegal content reported to it. To report content: "Report" function of the Application or [email protected], indicating the content and the reason. The Publisher may also hide content contrary to these terms; the author is informed and may challenge the decision by e-mail.

9. Plugins

The Application accepts plugins. Those in the catalog are published by their publishers, who set their own terms; the Publisher checks their format and integrity, not their operation. A plugin installed from outside the catalog is installed at your sole responsibility. The Publisher may remove a defective or dangerous plugin from the catalog.

10. AI assistant

The AI tab works with a key you obtain from the model provider of your choice. The use of this provider is governed by your contract with it and may be billed to you by it. Exchanges go directly from your device to this provider (see the privacy policy). The assistant's suggestions may be wrong: review any change it makes to your documents.

11. Rules of use

It is prohibited:

Security vulnerabilities may be reported in good faith to [email protected]; the Publisher does not pursue a report made in compliance with these rules.

12. Calculation results and manufacturing

Solidus is a design aid. You remain solely responsible for your designs, their compliance with applicable standards and rules, and decisions made on the basis of the Application's results. In particular:

13. Availability and liability

The Publisher uses its best efforts to ensure the availability of the Online Services, without any guarantee of continuity: interruptions may occur for maintenance, updates or incidents. During an interruption, the Application continues to work for the features already available offline.

Your documents are saved on your device: it is up to you to back them up. Clearing your browser data may erase documents saved in the online Application.

With respect to a Business, the Publisher's liability is limited to direct and foreseeable damage, up to the amounts paid by the Business during the last twelve months; the Publisher is not liable for loss of data, production, revenue or image. With respect to an Individual, the Publisher is liable for damage under ordinary law; nothing herein limits the rights granted to consumers by law, or liability for gross negligence or bodily injury.

14. Intellectual property

The documents you create with Solidus belong to you; the Publisher acquires no rights over them. Subject to the open source license of the core of the Application (article 5), the Application, the Online Services, the official library, the website, the trademark and the logos are protected and remain the property of the Publisher or its licensors.

15. Personal data

The processing of personal data is described in the privacy policy. For a Business account, the Business is responsible for the data of its members that it provides to the Publisher.

16. Suspension and termination

You may stop using Solidus at any time and delete your account from the application (Account › Delete my account) or by writing to [email protected]. Deletion is permanent and immediately terminates a current subscription, without refund of the period begun; to keep access until the end of the period, first cancel the subscription (Terms of Sale § 6) and then delete the account. Published projects, machines and fixtures remain in the catalog under the name "Deleted contributor"; your ratings, comments and bug reports are erased. The Free plan remains usable without an account.

An account unused for 3 years is deleted, after a notice e-mail sent 30 days beforehand; logging in within this period is enough to keep it.

In the event of a serious breach of these terms (fraud, security breach, illegal content, false declaration of account type), the Publisher may suspend or delete the account, after a formal notice that has remained without effect for 8 days, or immediately if urgency or seriousness justifies it. You are told the reason.

17. Changes to the terms

The Publisher may change these terms. Account holders are informed by e-mail at least 30 days before a significant change takes effect; if they refuse it, they may close their account and cancel their subscription free of charge before that date. The version in force is dated at the top of this page.

18. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by French law. In the event of a dispute, first write to [email protected] to seek an amicable solution.

An Individual may have recourse free of charge to the consumer mediator indicated in the Terms of Sale, and may bring proceedings before the court of their domicile or any court having jurisdiction under the law. For a Business, the courts within the jurisdiction of the Agen Court of Appeal have sole jurisdiction, including in the event of multiple defendants or third-party claims.

In the event of translation, the French version prevails.
